Oticon Zeal: A premium hearing aid that lives in your ear
Most premium hearing aids sit behind the ear with a thin wire to a speaker in the canal. Zeal takes a different shape: the whole hearing aid fits in the ear, a little like a wireless earbud. Oticon has built it on the same generation of sound processing as its behind-the-ear models, so you don’t give up the technology to get the discretion.
Nothing behind the ear
Because there’s no case behind the ear and no wire, Zeal stays out of the way of glasses, masks, hats and helmets — the things that make behind-the-ear hearing aids fiddly for some people. It’s sealed to an IP68 rating against dust and water, so sweat and rain aren’t a worry.
DNN 2.0 on the Sirius platform
Zeal runs on Oticon’s Sirius platform with a second-generation deep neural network (DNN 2.0), together with MoreSound Intelligence 3.0 and MoreSound Amplifier 3.0. In practice that’s the processing that decides, moment to moment, how to balance voices against everything else around you — Oticon’s approach of keeping you aware of the room while making speech easier to follow.
Rechargeable, with quick top-ups
Oticon rates the battery at up to 20 hours per charge, including streaming. A full charge takes about two hours, and quick top-ups go a long way: about 15 minutes gives roughly four hours of use, and 30 minutes about eight.
Bluetooth LE Audio and hands-free calls
Zeal uses Bluetooth LE Audio for streaming and hands-free calling, supports Google Fast Pair for quick setup with Android phones, and is Auracast-ready for public broadcast audio as venues adopt it. The Oticon Companion app handles volume, programmes and settings.
Why the fitting matters even more in the ear
An in-the-ear hearing aid has to seal comfortably in your ear canal, and ear canals vary a lot. Zeal can be fitted the same day with domes, or with custom tips when a better seal is needed. It suits mild to severe hearing loss, though custom tips may be needed toward the stronger end. Getting that right is hands-on work — exactly what your partner clinic visits are for.
