Overview

Phonak Audéo EON Sphere: Phonak’s noise specialist, made smaller

Hear More Today · Updated September 2026

EON Sphere is Phonak’s newest receiver-in-canal hearing aid, offered here in the 90 and 70 technology levels. It belongs to the Sphere family — the Phonak models that carry a second, dedicated processor whose only job is separating speech from noise. The first Sphere hearing aids built a strong reputation for exactly that. EON is the follow-up, and most of its changes are about making the same idea easier to live with.

Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0: voices from every direction

Conventional hearing aids lean on directional microphones: they favor sound from in front of you and turn down the rest. That helps when the person you’re talking to sits directly opposite, but real tables rarely work that way — someone speaks from your left, someone else from behind, and the room is loud on every side.

Spheric Speech Clarity takes a different route. A deep neural network, trained on recordings of speech and noise, works out which parts of the incoming sound are voice and which are clutter, and reduces the clutter in real time. Because it isn’t simply narrowing a beam, it can help with voices that don’t come from straight ahead.

On the 90 level it switches on automatically when the hearing aids detect loud, speech-heavy surroundings, and it applies Phonak’s strongest level of denoising. The 70 uses the same hearing aid with fewer automatic features. As with any manufacturer figure, your own results depend on your hearing loss and how well the aids are fitted — which is where your clinic comes in.

Smaller and lighter than the first Sphere

The one consistent complaint about the original Sphere was its size: fitting a second processor made it noticeably bigger than most receiver-in-canal aids. Phonak says the EON Sphere is about 25% smaller and 20% lighter, which brings it close to a conventional RIC at roughly 2.4 grams. That matters more than it sounds when you wear something behind your ear all day — especially with glasses.

AutoSense OS AI 8.0 and WindBlock 2.0

AutoSense is Phonak’s automatic system for recognizing where you are — a quiet room, a noisy restaurant, the car, music — and adjusting the sound to match, so you aren’t switching programs yourself. Version 8.0 is steadier in places where the noise rises and falls, so the aids are less likely to drop out of their noise setting every time a room briefly quietens.

WindBlock 2.0 targets the rushing sound wind makes across hearing-aid microphones. If you walk, golf, cycle or spend a lot of time outdoors, it’s one of the upgrades you’re most likely to notice.

Bluetooth that works with any phone — plus Auracast

Phonak’s Bluetooth works with iPhone, Android and most other Bluetooth devices rather than one ecosystem. Calls, music, podcasts and TV audio stream to both ears, and on calls the hearing aids’ own microphones pick up your voice, so your phone can stay on the table.

EON also supports Auracast broadcast audio, a newer standard that lets venues such as airports, theaters and lecture halls stream sound directly to compatible hearing aids. It’s still rolling out, but hearing aids are kept for years, so it’s worth having now.

Battery life

Real-time neural-network processing is power-hungry, and battery life was the other weak spot of the first Sphere. Phonak says its new HYPERSONIC chip runs Sphere processing 37% more efficiently. It quotes around 22 hours of typical use and up to 38 hours at most — the real figure depends on how much you stream and how often the noise feature is working. A full charge takes about two and a half hours.

Is it right for you — and which level?

If your biggest frustration is conversation in noisy places — family dinners, restaurants, busy workplaces — EON Sphere is one of the strongest options available, because that is exactly the problem it was designed around. Choose the 90 if you’re in demanding places often; the 70 suits a week with fewer of them. Not sure? Call us and we’ll talk it through.

Every EON Sphere from this page includes five in-person visits at a partner clinic in your first year — so the fitting that makes Sphere work is done face to face.

Why in-person care matters

Hearing aids are physical. Your care should be too.

One price. Your in-person care is included.

Online prices keep the cost down. But a hearing aid only performs as well as it is fitted, and some of that work can’t happen over a screen: choosing the right dome and wire length, checking the seal in your ear, and measuring what the aid actually delivers inside your ear canal.

That’s why every hearing aid comes with in-person care at a partner clinic, included in the price. You get online pricing, and a real person who fits, adjusts and services your hearing aids — and completes your purchase with you in person.

Questions

Common questions

What’s the difference between the 90 and the 70?

They’re the same hearing aid — same size, battery, Bluetooth and colors. The 90 is Phonak’s top technology level, with the strongest noise processing and the full set of automatic features. The 70 has fewer of those automatic features, for a lower price. Your hearing test and your daily routine decide which is worth it; we’re happy to help.

How is this different from the Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio?

EON Sphere is the next generation. It keeps the dedicated speech-in-noise processing Sphere is known for, in a body Phonak says is about 25% smaller and 20% lighter, with a more efficient chip, AutoSense OS AI 8.0, WindBlock 2.0 and Auracast support.

Will it work with my phone?

Phonak uses standard Bluetooth, so it pairs with iPhone and Android phones, tablets and computers. Calls stream to both ears and the hearing aids’ microphones pick up your voice.

Is in-person care included in the price?

Yes. One price covers the hearing aids and five in-person visits in your first year with a partner audiologist near you: your fitting and programming, real-ear measurement to verify the fit, dome, wire and receiver changes, and hands-on cleaning and servicing. There’s no separate care fee. After the first year, further appointments are charged by the clinic at its standard rate.

Why is in-person care part of every purchase?

Because fit matters as much as technology. The most advanced hearing aid will still whistle, feel uncomfortable or sound wrong if the dome, wire or settings aren’t right for your ear. Including the care means you’re never left to sort that out on your own.

Do I need a hearing test first?

Yes — hearing aids are programmed to your hearing test. If you already have a recent audiogram, you can submit it here. If not, call us on (888) 509-2544 and we’ll help you arrange one.

Should I buy a pair or one hearing aid?

Most people with hearing loss in both ears do best with a pair: two hearing aids work together, which helps with telling where sound comes from and with hearing in noise. If only one ear is affected, a single hearing aid may be all you need — your hearing test and your audiologist will guide you. In-person care is included either way.

What if they aren’t right for me?

You have 60 days from your fitting to request a full refund. Items need to be in their original condition and packaging; email support@hearmoretoday.com to start. The full terms are in our refund policy.

Can I use insurance or financing?

We work with insurers including Aetna, UHC, BCBS, Cigna and AARP, and can check your benefits before you decide. 0% financing is available for up to 18 months. Call (888) 509-2544 or see our insurance page.
